University of St. Thomas: Intranet
Role: Information Architect and Member of the Core Project Team
History: In 2015, the University's President requested an intranet for all community members of St. Thomas. This included staff, faculty, students and recent graduates.
This project was broken out into three phases, and expected to take over three years to fully complete.
At the time the project was requested there were over 200,000 pages on the external website. The migration of the external webpages to the intranet (OneStThomas) will decrease the total number of external web pages between 50 and 75%.
Project Deliverables:
Create a secure and internal intranet platform for the university and its internal community.
Goals:
Relevant and timely communication to faculty, staff and students
Secure and accessible content
An integrated, customizable tool set (a “digital dashboard”) for a more collaborative, innovative, and engaged workforce and student body
Personal Involvement:
External Web Content Analysis
Creation of the Information Architecture for the Intranet
Presentations and Workshops
Contributor Training
Content Migration and Design
Content Strategy
User Research Analysis (Interviews & Surveys),
User Testing
Marketing Strategy for User Adoption
I was the Lead Content Strategist and have been involved in the project from the initial startup through its ever evolving state.
This project is a continual project which requires constant attention and assistance to fellow constituents.
